Students recently stepped out of their classrooms and onto a music video set, teaming up with hip-hop artist Saxon Kincy (aka Old Man Saxon) to film the video for his uplifting track, "We Are Enough." The project is a vibrant mix of music, community engagement, and a masterclass in how to truly uplift student voices.
Keeping It Real for the Kids
For Kincy, the song is a direct message to the next generation. He wanted to create a track rooted in hope, imagination and something he felt was missing from the hip-hop he listened to growing up.
"This song was specifically talking to children to get them to say, 'Hey, you don’t have to worry about your future right now, you’re enough,'"
The message hit home perfectly. RASA students didn’t just stand around as extras, they brought the energy, sang their hearts out, and completely owned the space. The connection was so strong that RASA leaders announced "We Are Enough" has officially been adopted as the school’s new anthem.
Art, School, and Community Collide
This collaboration is exactly what RASA was built for. Located in Far Northeast Denver, an area that has historically lacked access to arts programs, RASA weaves creativity directly into its everyday learning model.
Bringing a professional artist like Old Man Saxon into the building shows what true community engagement looks like. It’s not just about neighborhood flyers, it’s about inviting creators into the school to collaborate directly with the kids.
By the time the cameras stopped rolling, one thing was clear: when you give students a platform and the right soundtrack, they don't just find their voices, they shout their worth to the world.
