A note from Interim Principal Kurt Siebold...
Hello RASA Community,
I'm excited to continue as the Interim Principal at RASA for the first semester of the 2026-27 school year. I am limited on the number of days the retirement system will allow me to work and will therefore be out most Fridays this fall. Sandra Just, also a retired DPS principal, will be at RASA on the days I am out.
As has been communicated, Denver Public Schools has indicated there will be a principal selection process for a new, full-time principal before January. Please stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
Kurt Siebold's Background
I was a principal for 17 years at Slavens K-8 in DPS. Prior to that, I was a principal for another District for five years, an assistant principal for four years and a teacher for 15 years. After retiring from Denver Public Schools in 2024, I have continued to provide support to several schools as an Interim Principal, including serving at RASA last April and May.
Sandra Just's Background
I served in DPS for 31 years prior to retiring in 2020. During my tenure with DPS, I was an elementary bilingual teacher, middle and high school counselor, and middle and high school principal, as well as working in the DPS central office supporting growth and performance management. Following retirement, I have provided central office support in DPS and human resource support in other districts.
Our Philosophy
We believe all kids deserve a well-rounded educational experience whereby they can develop as critical thinkers and creative problem solvers. At RASA, we hold high expectations for student behavior and also maintain high academic expectations... as RASA Dean Steven Jones likes to say, we want to be "compassionately demanding." We firmly believe in hands-on learning, and in empowering students to create through an arts integration and steam program approach. Our desire at RASA is to provide students with many opportunities with arts, music and STEAM programing as well as movement opportunities. This school year, we are placing a greater emphasis on arts integration as we seek to engage all students in rigorous and meaningful learning experiences.
