Arts Integration and STEAM

RASA has been designed with a community responsive approach, innovative school facility design, and an Arts Integration and STEAM model of education. STEAM education is a cutting-edge approach to learning that goes beyond traditional educational boundaries. STEAM uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

What is STEAM?

An educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

STEAM thrives on hands-on learning experiences. Students don’t just memorize facts; they engage in experiments, design projects, and solve real-world problems. This not only makes learning more enjoyable, but also instills a deeper understanding of academic principles and concepts.

What is Arts Integration?

According to the Kennedy Center, “Students meet dual learning objectives when they engage in the creative process to explore connections between an art form and another subject area to gain greater understanding in both.”

Arts integration is a model of education based on both research and experiential observation. This model can be defined as the use of arts in a manner that supports and enhances the learning of content in any discipline.

“The arts enhance the process of learning. The systems they nourish, which include our sensory, attentional, cognitive, emotional, and motor capabilities are, in fact, the driving forces behind all other learning.”  – Eric Jensen
